Management of glaucoma centers on two linked problems: raised or poorly tolerated intraocular pressure (IOP), and a pressure-independent neurodegeneration of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) that continues even when IOP is controlled. On the pressure side, Breviflorex components inhibit aqueous humour production (carbonic anhydrase II/IV inhibition, and β2-adrenoceptor-cAMP blockage), tissue fibrosis/TM cell loss via blockage of TGF-β2/SMAD3 signaling.
